Kooperation mit chinesischen Schulen für Lehrerfortbildungen zum Thema "Begabungsförderung"
Am 29.06.10 hat das Begabungszentrum Bayern mit der Direktorin der China Hebei Hengshui Qiming School, Frau Chen, einen Kooperationsvertrag für die Durchführung von Lehrerfortbildungen zum Thema Begabungsförderung unterzeichnet.
Zusammen mit Frau Dr. Monita Leavitt wurde das folgende Konezept von Frau Roya Klingner entwickelt:
High Quality Global Teacher Training for High Ability Kids
Teachers are the torch bearers in creating social cohesion, national integration and a learning society. They not only disseminate knowledge but also create and generate new knowledge. They are responsible for acculturating the role of education. Teacher training is an integral component of any educational system. It is intimately connected with society and is conditioned by the ethos, culture and character of a nation.
What Is the Role of Teachers of the Gifted and Talented?
Teachers of the gifted and talented are generally responsible for one or more of these roles:
- Organizing enrichment activities for students and teachers in the school;
- Gathering and disseminating information about innovative teaching practices, exemplary materials, resource persons, and special opportunities for gifted youngsters;
- Coordinating regular curricular activities so bright students can work at a pace and level commensurate with their ability;
- Integrating regular curriculum and special program experiences;
- Counseling and advising students, parents, and teachers about underachievement, career and college selection, and special problems associated with giftedness, and
- Encouraging student attitudes of excellence, creativity, productivity, and leadership.
Our Goals:
- Foundations, the research-based evidence, philosophies, laws and policies, and various historical and human perspectives in the evolving field of gifted education;
- Development and Characteristics of Learners, including those with exceptional learning needs;
- Individual Learning Differences, including the effects that giftedness as well as diversity can have on one’s learning;
- Instructional Strategies, based on evidence-based research and are specific to gifted and talented students;
- Learning Environments and Social Interactions, promoting creativity, cultural understanding, diversity, safety and emotional well being, and full student engagement in the learning process;
- Language and Communication and the important role they play in talent development; effective teaching strategies for oral and written communication skills; and individual language proficiencies and cultural and linguistic differences;
- Instructional Planning, reflecting both long- and short-range goals and objectives for individual giftedness;
- Assessment in multiple forms that can be used for identification, progress, instruction, and evaluation of gifted learners;
- Professional and Ethical Practice standards in all situations, both in dealing with students and in staying abreast of new evidence and more effective teaching techniques;
- Collaboration with families, other educators, and appropriate service and support personnel for gifted children and gifted programs.

Monita Leavitt, Ph.D.
Monita Leavitt lives in Connecticut, USA, and has been an educator for more than 30 years, including 20 years as a gifted education teacher. In 2002, she was granted a sabbatical to begin her doctoral studies in England on Lithuanian Teachers’ Perceptions and Practices of Gifted Education. A member of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA) and the World Gifted Council, Monita works as a gifted education consultant and trains teachers in Differentiation for High Ability Children. She is the Academic Dean of SIG (Summer Institute for the Gifted) at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire. Monita received her Ph.D. from Oxford Brookes University, England; M.S. at Central Connecticut State University, CT, and B.A. at Moravian College, PA. Her work has been published in educational journals, including the International Journal for Gifted and Talented (2009). She is the author of Building a Gifted Program: Identifying and Educating Gifted Students in Your School (2007). In 2009, Monita received the Benigna Education Award from Moravian College. Monita has presented at the ECHA Conference (2010), Asia-Pacific Conference (2008), National Gifted Conferences, and the World Gifted Conference in Barcelona, Warwick and Vancouver. She is listed in Who's Who of International Educators, and currently represents the Northeast and Gifted Education for the National Board of Professional Teachers Standards (NBPTS).
Roya Klingner
Roya Klingner is the Head and Founder of Bavarian Center for Gifted and Talented Children. She is the German Delegate in World Council for Gifted and Talented Children and member of European Council for High Ability (ECHA). Roya Klingner has a unique and diverse background, having worked in all year levels and many specialist areas during a career in both Government and Independent schools over the past years. Her philosophy as an educator is a reflection of current best-practice teaching and learning. She has experience in the development and application of Professional Learning programmes, assisting and supporting staff to implement new and innovative programmes into their classrooms. Roya Klingner is a Solution Oriented Therapist for Gifted Children. The first president of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, Dr. Iraj Broomand, started a program for gifted and talented children in Iran 33 years ago. At that time, Roya Klingner was a little girl, who was different from other children of the same age. Her kindergarten teacher noticed her giftedness and advised her parents to send her to that school. After the iranian revolution she was forced to visit a "normal" school, where she was bored and unhappy. These experiences motivated her to find ways to spare other gifted children from making the same sad experiences.Her main interests in the field of talent development and excellence are underachievement, teacher trainings, learning and motivational training programs, development of creativity and solution oriented counseling for Gifted and Talented children. Her goal now is to support and help Gifted and Talented Children around the world.
